When Christmas rolls around I love seeing well-made gingerbread houses. My girls love decorating (and eating) their own gingerbread houses too.
At Easter we always have too much candy around the house. Especially Peeps. I'll be honest, they are not my favorite Easter candy. No one in our house particularly likes them, but how can you turn down that colorful puffed sugar?
So what does excess Peeps and a love of gingerbread houses get you? Peeps Easter houses of course!
All you need is candy, graham crackers, and a good icing. For our Easter candy assortment we used Peeps (of course), jelly beans, and robin eggs.
I trimmed the graham crackers down to size and made my own icing. I used this Gingerbread House Icing recipe. It worked like a charm.
All you need for this recipe is 3 eggs whites, cream of tartar, and powdered sugar.

After sticking the icing into plastic bags and cutting a corner off of each bag, I helped the girls build the basic house structure.
We let them dry for a few minutes so the icing could harden.
The houses are dry! Time to decorate.
