Peeps Easter Houses

When Christmas rolls around I love seeing well-made gingerbread houses.  My girls love decorating (and eating) their own gingerbread houses too.

At Easter we always have too much candy around the house.  Especially Peeps.  I'll be honest, they are not my favorite Easter candy.  No one in our house particularly likes them, but how can you turn down that colorful puffed sugar?

So what does excess Peeps and a love of gingerbread houses get you?  Peeps Easter houses of course!

All you need is candy, graham crackers, and a good icing.  For our Easter candy assortment we used Peeps (of course), jelly beans, and robin eggs.

I trimmed the graham crackers down to size and made my own icing.  I used this Gingerbread House Icing recipe.  It worked like a charm.

All you need for this recipe is 3 eggs whites, cream of tartar, and powdered sugar.

My cuties waiting while I whipped up the icing.  They were super excited.

After sticking the icing into plastic bags and cutting a corner off of each bag, I helped the girls build the basic house structure.

We let them dry for a few minutes so the icing could harden.

The houses are dry!  Time to decorate.

Icing globs on the roof.

They really went to town with the decorating.

Doesn't she look like she's having fun?

Squirt, squirt, squirt!

Almost done.

Super sticky hands.

Here's Goofy's.

The kids had a blast with this project, but the best part...

Eating them of course!

Mmm!  Jelly bean.

Here are some other fun ideas for things you can do with Peeps this Easter:
And for your enjoyment, here are some jousting peeps.  (I am very tempted to try this!)
