I hope everyone had a happy 4th of July! I woke my girls up at 5:30 in the morning to go watch the hot air balloon festival. We drove out to the site only to learn that it was too windy. Feeling guilty, I took them out to breakfast. First, we drove to Ihop. It would have been an hour wait. Instead we went to McDonald's.
They were not disappointed.
In fact, I think they liked it better than they would have liked sitting around at a table in Ihop.
The playground was the best part.
That night we went to the annual BBQ at my parents' house. I wanted to bring something easy to grab and eat while watching fireworks.
I scanned my 4th of July Pinterest board. There were lots of good ideas, but the chocolate dipped strawberries were my inspiration. I simply dipped licorice in white chocolate and sprinkled them with blue sprinkles.
It was easy as that. My dad passed around a large tub of regular licorice to everyone. Then, he passed around my chocolate dipped licorice calling it "leaded licorice." The name gave me a kick, so that's what I decided to call it. Thanks dad!
This would be a great movie night treat. For movie-themed activities you can do with your family check out my website: Fun-Filled Flicks!
