Princess is a true kid. If I let her, she would have either pizza or macaroni and cheese every night for dinner. I love pizza, but I can't justify the cost of buying it when I could make something cheaper (not to mention healthier). As I was scrolling through Pinterest I came across a couple of quick-fix, kid-friendly pizza recipes that intrigued me:
Pepperoni Cheese Stick Roll Ups - they looked so good I had them pinned twice
Pepperoni Roll - quick and easy
Pizza Grilled Cheese Sandwiches - where has this idea been all my life?!
Pepperoni Pizza Rolls - these look divine
The Pizzadilla - oh so clever
3 Meat Pizza Casserole - can anyone say leftovers?
Crescent Pepperoni Roll-Ups - mmm!
Usually I just make the classic English Muffin pizzas for the kids. They love to help make them. However, the crescent pepperoni roll-ups inspired me to try making my own little pizza slices out of Pillsbury crescent rolls. I cut mozzarella cheese into sticks and wrapped the dough around it to form a stuffed-crust. I spread pizza sauce, cheese, and pepperoni on them. I sprinkled the crust with garlic salt. It was a tasty little pepperoni pizza roll.
Princess loved the pizzas. (Notice her plate is almost empty.)
Mmm! What a...*ahem*...healthy dinner.
I decided to make something a little more gourmet for my hubby and myself. I spread cream cheese (yes, you read that right) on my dough. Then I cut up some left over chicken from the night before and put that on top. Next, I put BBQ sauce on top of that. Finally, I topped it with Parmesan cheese, Mozzarella cheese, and garlic salt.
I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but oh my goodness I'm in love! The cream cheese was my favorite part. Next time I will have to use a real pizza dough so it all tasted more authentic and less like a roll. Perhaps I'll try this recipe:
