Guess who had a birthday today...
Goofy! My silly little girl turned 2.
I wanted to make it a special day for her, so I put up a few friends to greet her as she came out of her room.
Here's what she saw when she woke up. But this is not the only place in the house covered with festive little owls. Oh no! Let me give you the grand tour.
Here is the front door.
This is what would greet you if you walked into our house today.
Owls, owls everywhere.
All of the kids loved our new owl friends.
Here's a closer shot of our little owls in the clouds. (You could use green balloons and brown streamers if you wanted to make a tree.)
To top it all off I made a little owl cake.
I'm no cake decorator by any means, but I was pleased with the result. Here's how you can make an owl cake of your own along with a vanilla butter frosting recipe.
Another successful cake. (I am only making these cute cakes until the kids are eight because they are A LOT of work.)
Goofy loved her cake.
Time to eat the poor little owl.
Goofy really loved her cake. She was a real "hoot" tonight.
Here are some really cute Owl Birthday Freebies that you could use for your own owl party.
And here are some Owl To/From printables.

You are such a fun mama!
ReplyDeleteI found this on pinterest and would love to make similar owl balloons for my daughter's 2nd birthday! How'd you attach the paper pieces? :) Thanks!
ReplyDelete@murfsgirl - I attached the eyes and beak to the balloon using double-sided tape. For the ears I used single-sided tape on the front and back to keep them standing up. Hope that helps. Happy birthday to your daughter and let me know how it turns out!
DeleteThank you! it's this weekend - I'll send you pictures if I make the balloons happen :)
DeleteDid you use fun foam or card stock paper? I'm trying to make them for my sister's baby shower this weekend.

ReplyDeleteI'm putting together a post for Spoonful on Owl parties and I was wondering if I can include a photo from this post of the owl balloons. I will of course link back to your blog. Spoonful is a super popular site, so it's a great way to gain increased exposure.
Let me know what you think. If you're okay with it, I'll email you once the post is up on Spoonful so you can check it out and share it with your friends.
Best,

I love those balloons - so cute! : )
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather.
DeleteLOVE the balloon idea! We are going to do this for my 10 year old this weekend. Any guesstimate on how big the two circles are that you used for the eyes? Jennifer
ReplyDeleteHey Jennifer, I believe the eyes were 1 1/2" (it's been a year now so I'm not entirely sure on that number). I hope your 10 year old has a wonderful birthday!
DeleteI recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Clipping Path. I look forward to your future visits and comments. :)
DeleteHow did you attach the balloons to the ceiling? With packaging tape? Did they stay up without falling in a short time? Thanks for such a cute idea! =)
ReplyDeleteI used masking tape and they stayed up just fine.
