Most of this week I have been battling a nasty sore throat and runny nose. It's been pretty brutal. I always feel bad for my kids when I'm sick. They usually end up in front of the television for the entire day while I try to catch some sleep. (I'm sure I'm not the only one that has done this.)
Here are 10 great activities you can do with your kids when you are sick:
#1. Read together - Talk about the characters in the books. Have the kids put on a play about what they read.
#2. Play a board game - Choose a game like Candyland that requires very little effort.
#3. Make shadow puppets - Here's a link to some great Hand Shadow Puppets you could learn together.
#4. Play doctor - You're sick. Let the kids take care of you!
#5. Hair salon - My girls especially love this.
#6. Movie theater - If you're going to watch a movie make it special. Set up pillows. Turn off lights. Serve a little treat.
#7. Make paper dolls/collages - Use your junk mail to cut out different people, clothes, cars, etc. Put them together to make a funny new picture or a doll they can dress.
#8. Art show - Have your kids color pictures and show them off to you. Make a big deal out of each picture.
#9. Fashion show - Let your kids dress up in different clothes from around the house. Have them do a special walk for you. Be the commentator and describe their fun outfits. Make it silly.
#10. Play I-Spy - Easy game and you don't have to get out of bed.
To all you sick moms -- feel better!
