Under the Sea Birthday Party

Princess is 5!  I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that one.  When I asked what kind of party she wanted she immediately said, "princess."  This would be her third princess party and I really wanted to do something different.  So, since Ariel is Princess' favorite princess I talked her into an under the sea birthday party.

When Princess woke up she found these cute jellyfish at her door.

Here's what she saw when she came downstairs.

The jellyfish are my favorite decoration.  So fun (and cheap).

I left a special present at the table for her to open early.

It was an Ariel costume to wear to her party.  She looks so much like Ariel when she wears it.

Here's what the guests saw when they came to the house.

When the kids came they found a place to sit and decorated a pail.

Decorating the buckets was Goofy's favorite part of the party.

We then headed outside for games.

The first game was the Mermaid Race.

I separated the kids into two teams.  Princess' cousin was born the same day, so she was the other team leader.  They put on their "Mermaid Tails" and raced to the tree and back.

The kids really loved this race.

Once everyone had a turn I put treats in each of their pails.

Next, we played a classic game--Come Fishies Come.  The kids lined up against the fence and had to run to the other side of the yard without being touched.

I was the shark.  "Come fishies come!"

It surprised me that none of the kids had played this game before.  This was the favorite game for many of the kids.

After games, Princess opened her presents.

We played Heavy, Heavy Hang before giving Princess her present.  The kids thought it was super funny.

"What do you wish with the BUMP on the head!"

Time for cake!

I gave each of the party guests a cupcake.  They were a little nervous about eating the sand and rocks at first.

But they got over it quickly.

Before they left, I let the kids take some prizes from the treasure chest.  I made it out of a shoe box, poster board, paint, Sharpie markers, and pearl embellishments.  It was filled with bubbles, bath sponges, squeaky water animals, necklaces, bracelets, gold coins, and bouncy balls.
