Hey everyone. I know some of you have been wondering where I've been for the last 2 weeks or so. After living in our house for 6 months now I finally decided to put our pictures on the wall. Princess said that, "It looks like we actually live here now."
I called this post turning a new leaf because I want to be in a better state of health and overall well-being. I don't eat well, drink as much as I should, sleep enough, and I am constantly stressed. I am now changing my habits one goal at a time. So let's talk about my first goal: healthy eating.
It seems that all of my sisters-in-law are very good about eating healthy. Now it's not like I was eating out with my family every night or making pizza for every meal, but there's always room for improvement.
One of my good friends told me that it's hard to even know where to start. I figure just go with one goal at a time. My goal last week: eat more fruits and vegetables.
Do you remember my nemesis? The candy machine:
Look at it sitting there--just tempting me to eat candy after tasty candy.
Let me show you how I countered it.
This is my new best friend: The fruit bowl. I leave it sitting on the kitchen table. Whenever I see the fruit it reminds me of my goal. I grab fruit to eat for a snack a lot more often now.
Look at the candy machine now. Sad and empty. I have considered putting trail mix or nuts in it, but even that could be dangerous. I like to snack too much!
I have incorporated either a fruit or a vegetable into each meal.
This is what I had for breakfast this morning. Broiled grapefruit and a slice of whole wheat toast. I have been working on this goal for a week now and I seem to have more energy throughout the day. It's wonderful!
I invite you to make some health goals for yourself. Or you can follow along as I try my new goals. Instead of grabbing a bag of chips try a carrot dipped in hummus instead. Eat an apple. Cut up some celery slices. Just grab whatever fruit or vegetable you love. You'll be glad you did!

Looks like I have a giant, two-year-old mouse on my hands. At least she's eating something healthy. How that Goofy makes me laugh!
