Corn is one of the best vegetables in the world. I dare you to deny it. Cook it, smother it in butter, sprinkle it with salt, and chow down. Yep, heaven on a cob. And, let's face it, if you don't like it in its original form you'd have to be crazy not to like popcorn. Have you ever tried cheesy barbecue popcorn? Or there's my absolute favorite - white chocolate orange popcorn. It is as good as it sounds. I promise.
Fall/Thanksgiving is a great time to appreciate corn in all its glory. Try out some of these fun corn-themed crafts with your kids. They will love them!
#1. Popsicle Stick Corn
- 3 yellow craft sticks (or you could paint them; try making them look like Indian corn)
- Green construction paper
- A black Sharpie marker
- Glue/masking tape
- Scissors
- Magnet and hot glue (optional)
Directions: Place the three crafts sticks next to each other vertically. Glue or tape them together.
Flip them over and, using the Sharpie marker, draw corn kernels. Cut out leaves from the green construction paper and glue/tape it onto your corn. (Optional: glue a magnet to the back and allow to dry.) Display!

#2. Bubble Wrap Indian Corn
- Bubble wrap
- Paint (red, orange, yellow, brown, & black)
- Paintbrush/foam brush
- A paper plate
- 2 pieces of white paper
- Green construction paper
- Scissors
- Elmer's glue
Directions: Cut a piece of bubble wrap so that it's a little smaller than your white paper. Squirt different colors of paint onto the paper plate. Using the brush, paint the bubble wrap. Once all of the bubbles are painted, turn the bubble wrap over and press it onto your piece of white paper. Let dry. Cut an ear of corn from your paper (you could make multiple). Glue ear of corn to the other white piece of paper. Cut leaves out of the green paper and glue them to the bottom of the corn. Hang up for everyone to see.

- Empty water bottle
- Tissue paper (yellow and green)
- Raffia
- Scissors
- Glow stick
Directions: Remove the cap from the empty water bottle. Wrap the bottle in yellow tissue paper. Then, wrap it again with the green leaving some yellow to show. Tie off the top of the water bottle with raffia and cut off any excess. Wait for it to get dark or go to a dark room in your house. Place a glow stick inside the bottle and watch your corn glow!
#4. Fruit Loop Corn
- Fruit Loops (red, yellow, & orange)
- Elmer's glue
- Paper
- Crayons (green & yellow)
Directions: Using the crayons, draw an ear of corn onto the white piece of paper. Glue Fruit Loops to the cob. Allow to dry. Eat the extra Fruit Loops (this was my son's favorite part). Show off your darling picture.
#5. Footprint Indian Corn
- Paper
- Green construction paper
- Paint (yellow, orange, red, & brown)
- Paintbrush/foam brush
- Paper plate
- Scissors
- Elmer's glue
Directions: Pour out a little bit of each paint color onto the paper plate. Using the paintbrush/foam brush, paint a child's footprint different colors. Press the foot down onto a piece of paper. Remove foot and allow paint to dry. Once dry, cut out leaves with the green construction paper. Glue them to your corn and display your Indian corn footprint keepsake.
#6. Beaded Indian Corn Ornaments
- Pony beads (black, red, orange, yellow, & white)
- Raffia
- Scissors
- Wire
Directions: Thread one pony bead to the middle of a piece of raffia. Fold the raffia over so the tips connect. Bead the next 11-14 pony beads through both ends of the raffia. Once that is done. String another piece of raffia through the first bead. Connect the ends and bead another row of pony beads through both ends of the raffia. String one more piece of raffia through the first bead and follow the same steps. You should have 3 rows of Indian corn. Tie them off as best you can. Tie a thin wire around the knot and create a loop for the ornament. Cover the wire with another piece of tied on raffia. Hang your beaded Indian corn ornaments around the house.
#7. Button Indian Corn
- Buttons (red, yellow, black, brown, orange, & green)
- Elmer's glue/hot glue
- A piece of paper
Directions: Arrange your buttons on the paper so that it looks like an ear of corn. Glue the buttons to the paper. If you are using hot glue, be careful not to touch the hot glue that comes through the button holes (trust me on this one). Allow to dry. Display for everyone to see.
#8. Corn I-Spy Bottle
- Empty water bottle
- Funnel (optional)
- Corn kernels
- Small objects from around the house (buttons, beads, sea shells, pom-poms, jiggly-eyes, etc.)
- Masking tape
Directions: Remove lid from empty water bottle. Using a funnel, fill the water bottle a with corn kernels. Take time to stop and add objects into the bottle. By doing this, you won't end up with all of your I-spy objects at the top of the bottle. Make sure to only fill the bottle about 3/4 the way or the kernels won't move around and the kids won't be able to see the I-spy objects. Twist the lid closed and tape around it to secure the corn inside.
