Rainbow Magic Fairy Party

My Princess turned 7!

She looks way to grown up!  *sob*

Princess loves reading the Rainbow Magic Fairy books.  When I asked her what kind of birthday party she would like, I wasn't surprised when she said a Rainbow Magic Fairy party.  I was concerned that her friends wouldn't know the Rainbow Magic Fairy books.  After fretting about it a few days, I came up with the idea to introduce the kids to the books.  I wanted to make them feel like they were inside one of the books and had to act everything out.  Let me show you how I did it.

We sent out invitations that said that it was going to be a Rainbow Magic Fairy party.  Jack Frost is the villain of the Rainbow Magic Fairy books, so when the guests walked up to the front door this sign was there for the kids to read:

When they walked into the house there was no party stuff - no decorations, no cake, only a few fairies on the wall.

I went to the Rainbow Magic Fairy website, created my own fairies, printed them out, and stuck them all over the house.

I had the kids put their presents on the hutch.  I mention this now because it will be important later on.

Once the guests were gathered, I told the kids that decorations and a note had arrived from one of the Rainbow Magic fairies.

Princess read the note to her friends.  Here is what note #1 said:

I separated the girls into groups of two.  They decorated with flowers, butterflies, balloons, streamers, and tissue paper flowers.

Princess grabbed a tissue paper flower to decorate with.  To make the flowers I followed THIS tutorial.

Goofy worked very hard on this section of the wall.

Aren't the decorations fabulous?  I love seeing what the girls came up with.

Another fairy came and left the counter looking like this (see above).

Princess read note #2:

The girls rushed to the counter to choose a pair of wings and a wand.

All done!  The girls danced and ran all over the house in their wings.

When everyone was done, they gathered up to read note #3:

We all headed outside.

Outside they found a music speaker, a pile of toadstools, and note #4:

I set out the toadstools in a circle on the grass.

Musical toadstools was a hit.  It's just like musical chairs, only they stepped on the toadstools instead of sitting on chairs.  I removed one at a time until only one person was left.  Whoever was the last person standing got a prize.  We played it twice.

Round and round and round they go.

Squish!  I looked all over Pinterest to see if I could find a way to make toadstools.  Everything was more expensive than I liked.  Finally, I came up with my own idea.  I made the toadstools using foam poster board for the base, red & white felt, stuffing, scissors, and a hot glue gun.  They were SUPER easy to make, very soft, and the kids loved them.

I told the girls to head back inside to open presents.  But when we go to the hutch...

The presents were GONE!  (I asked my friend Bestie to help me with the party.  She took pictures and helped with the various activities, but her main job was to hide the presents while the kids were outside playing musical toadstools.)

I wish you could have seen the looks on the girls' faces.  They were outraged!  Luckily, we found note #5:

Can you tell it's my kitchen?  The girls were supposed to follow the directions at the bottom and then, following the arrows, they would find Jack Frost's Ice Castle (a.k.a. the toy room).

They tip-toed up to Jack Frost's Ice Castle and carefully opened the door.  This was by far my favorite part of the party.  The girls were all afraid that Jack Frost or a goblin was going to jump out at them.

Instead they found the presents and a note from Jack Frost:

The walls were covered in blue, plastic tablecloths.

Goblins and snowflakes were everywhere!

My kids loved having Jack Frost's Ice Castle in the toy room.  We kept it up for at least a month.

Princess and her friends gathered in the living room to open presents.

They were all so generous; she was spoiled.

After presents, another fairy came and left this on the table along with note #6:

The cupcakes were exactly what Princess wanted - spice cake.

Once the girls were done with cupcakes and ice cream it was time to go home.  But not before a visit from one more fairy.

We all had fun, but no one was happier than Princess.  Happy birthday sweet girl.  I love you!
