We have been learning about seasons in preschool. While we stay cooped up inside to avoid the cold snow outside we can dream about warmer weather. This lesson focused on Spring. We talked about how spring is different from the other seasons: flowers grow, it rains, many baby animals are born, and the earth is getting warmer. Naturally, we needed to do a craft to celebrate spring, so the kids made cupcake liner umbrellas.
Cupcake Liner Umbrellas
Materials Needed:
- Paper
- Cupcake liners
- Pipe cleaner
- Blue construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Tape
How to Make the Umbrellas:
Create a "J" shape with your pipe cleaner by bending the end into a hook. Fold your cupcake liners in half. Then, fold them back about another fourth. Tape the cupcake liner and pipe cleaner together. Glue your cupcake liner umbrellas to a piece of paper. Cut out some raindrops from the blue construction paper. Glue around the umbrellas. Let glue dry and hang up your new art work.
The cupcake liner umbrellas were such a simple craft, but my kids had a blast making them. They couldn't wait to display them in the house.

These cute little baking cups are fun for when you need a size in between a regular cupcake and a mini-cupcake. I've read several reviews where the size has caused some buyers to be unhappy with the product, but I personally found it to be a bonus because cupcake liners.
